Inspirational Quotes and Poems

“As a single footstep will not make a path on the earth, so a single thought will not make a pathway in the mind. To make a deep physical path, we walk again and again. To make a deep mental path, we must think over and over the kind of thoughts we wish to dominate our lives.”

— Henry David Thoreau

“The more intensely we feel about an idea or a goal the more assuredly the idea buried in our subconscious will direct us along the path to fulfillment.”

— Earl Nightingale

“Understand that the right to choose your own path is a sacred privilege. Use it. Dwell in possibility.”

— Oprah Winfrey

“Never follow somebody else’s path, it doesn't work the same way twice for anyone.”

— Unknown

“Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.”

— Mauriel Strode

“Women who believe in themselves are enhanced by their years. We are repositories of the experience and wisdom of our time.”

— Betty Nickerson

“If women can learn to surrender the seductiveness of youth and to value themselves by other than adolescent standards of beauty, they can explore the dignity of elder beauty and reclaim the right to age without stigma.”

— Z. Schachter-Shalomi

“Sometimes it only takes a word, a phrase, a drumbeat, a circle, a song, a room full of women in harmony together, to remind us of all that we are.”

— Betty Clare Moffatt

Real Women Have Curves

Real women have curves, wrinkles, and flaws.
Each one earned with experience, perseverance and determination.
There's no computer to airbrush your mistakes.
Let them make you who you are.
Love every mark, every scar, every extra curve you wished to go away,
Accept what you can't learn to love,
Then let go of what you can't accept.
Treasure them for their memories
Like a worn love letter or ratty old quilt from generations of old.
Each wrinkle comes with the wisdom only years of life can give.
And life is not to be hidden or covered up.
For life is how a girl grows into a woman
And real women have curves.

Every Woman Deserves a Poem

I want to tell you how beautiful you are
In such a true and unforgettable way
That you will never doubt it again.
It will be as though through the lens of
the poem you will suddenly see: yourself.
Truly the whole of you, naked.

It will be as though you are walking alone
In the woods when a great blue heron lifts
Into the air, or a single wild orchid blooms,
Or the moon shines down on still water,
And it is enough. Your heart stops.
You are left grateful, simply for being alive.

It will be your own beauty this time
Taking you so suddenly and by surprise,
The mysterious beauty of your entire life
Carefully inscribed in your body.

It will be as though the poem becomes
Your dream lover, caresses your skin
With absolute tenderness, lights up
With its touch every cell in your body,
Enters you with a gasp of astonished
Desire, plunges deep into the secret
At the center of who you are.

Here's to the Woman

...who knows where she's going
and will keep on until she gets there;

who knows not only what she wants from life
but what she has to offer in return...

HERE'S TO THE WOMAN

who is loyal to family and friends,
who expects no more from others
than she is willing to give;

HERE'S TO THE WOMAN

who guides and inspires
not by quoting others' philosophies
but by living her own good
example;

who accepts both victories and disappointments
with the same grace,
and who can rise above life's challenges
and move on...

HERE'S TO THE WOMAN
who gives the gifts of her thoughtfulness,
who shows her caring with a word of support,
her understanding with a smile;

a woman who brings joy to others
just by being herself...

The Person I Long To Be

The day light breaks again
Another day has begun.

But still no sleep has come.
My body is weary

My mind overworked.
I lie awake thinking

But what I am unsure.
I need to break free from the cycle I endure.

Everyday is the same and the nights are undistinguished.
I feel as though I am being pushed along with the tide

Unable to break free from the everyday flow.
This is not me I need to change, before time takes over

And I am unable to change.
I need to be freed from the grasp of ordinary

And become that person I have always longed for.
Express myself in every way, and conquer the dreams as I lie awake.

Then I may fall asleep and put my mind to rest.
Make changes in my life and help those in need.

I would like to touch everyone's life in a positive way
And leave my mark on society before I fade away.

In Appreciation for Women

Women have strengths that amaze men.
They carry children, they carry hardships, they carry burdens - but they hold happiness, love and joy.
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy and laugh when
they are nervous.
Women wait by the phone for a "safe at home call" from a friend after a snowy drive home.
They fight for what they believe in.
They stand up to injustice.
They are in the front row at PTA meetings.
They vote for the person that will do the best job for family issues.
They don't take "no" for an answer when they believe there is a better solution.
They stick a love note in their husband's
lunch box.
They do without new shoes so their children can have them.
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
Women are honest, loyal, and forgiving.
They are smart, knowing that knowledge is power. But they still know how to
use their softer side to make a point.
Women want to be the best for their family, their friends, and themselves.
They cry when their children excel and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about a birth or a new marriage.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They have sorrow at the loss of a family member, yet they are strong when they think there is no strength left.
A woman's touch can cure any ailment.
They know that a hug and a kiss can heal a broken heart.
She can make a romantic evening unforgettable.
Women come in all sizes, in all colors and shapes.
They live in homes, apartments and cabins.
They drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what makes the world spin!

Living Wide Open: Landscapes of the Mind

I will not die an unlived life
I will not live in fear
of falling or catching fire.
I choose to inhabit my days,
to allow my living to open me,
to make me less afraid,
more accessible,
to loosen my heart
until it becomes a wing,
a torch, a promise.
I choose to risk my significance,
to live so that which came to me as seed
goes to the next as blossom,
and that which came to me as blossom,
goes on as fruit.

Prayer To Your Feminine Spirit

I  summon your soul to sing its great song,
For, to do otherwise would surely be wrong.

Come live in the beauty of who you are
From here you look like a shining star.

You have one life to live this time round
Please, don’t live it underground.

The world cries and creates a demand for your stand.

We’re on the verge of balance but the world needs your hands.

So summon your spirit and sing its great song,
For to do otherwise would surely be wrong.

The Beauty of a Woman

The beauty of a woman is not in the clothes she wears, the figure that she carries, or the way she combs her hair.

The beauty of a woman must be seen in her eyes, because that is the doorway to her heart,
the place where love resides.

The beauty of a woman is not a facial mole,
true beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul.
It is the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion she shows.
